​​Scholarships for District Philadelphia Members​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​District Philadelphia will award two (2) educational scholarships ​for the 2025 calendar​ year.


The scholarships will cover the cost of tuition (recipients will have to pay for their own travel to and from Minneapolis, MN for the week of In-person Learning)


Applicants must chose one (1) of the following three​ week courses to attend when filling out their application:

Brewery Packaging and Technology Course taking place...

Brewery Maintenance Systems Course taking place...

Scholarship Applications & Required Supplemental Materials are due by midnight ​December 31st, 2024.


Members are eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be a current member of the MBAA. 

  • Applicants must have been a member of th​​​e MBAA for a minimum of two (2) consecutive years.

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of two (2) years of professional brewing or allied trade experience.

  • Applicants must complete the application form and aquire two letters of recommendation (more information below)


Required application documents:

  • Required supplemental materials include:

    • ​Professional Résumé.

    • Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a current MBAA member in good standing.  The other should be from a supervisor familiar with your experience in the industry. 

    • Contact information for the above-mentioned endorsees.

    • A short narrative essay addressing the following:

      • ​Your experience in the brewing industry 

      • How you came to be involved/interested in brewing

      • Your brewing career goals

      • How this scholarship can help you to accomplish these goals 



​Scholarship Applications are due by midnight ​December 31st, 2024. Earlier submissions are encouraged and welcome!


Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Applicants will be notified of their decision no later than the end of January 2025.


Please note nothing can be done to help you out if you miss the deadline.  Make sure your application and documents are completed and submitted on time!

Additional Details and Notes:

  • Awardees of the scholarship may be made public information. By submitting a scholarship application, the awardee agrees to the use of their name as submitted in the application if they are selected for the scholarship.

  • Applications are reviewed and awarded by a scholarship committee. The winner is chosen based on:

    • District membership

    • Financial need

    • ​Clear evidence of a career in beer with clear value-added from the scholarship/course

    • ​Willingness and ability to teach others, to pass on the information learned

  • The scholarship committee reserves the right to withhold awarding scholarships for a given year if no suitable candidate is found.

  • Decisions by the committee will be made by a vote of simple majority and all decisions will be final. Committee members shall be ineligible to vote regarding scholarships for themselves or members of their family.

  • Applicants must be committed to financing all other ancillary costs associated with attending the Short Courses, including but not limited to transportation, lodging, food, etc.

  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss this opportunity with their supervisor(s) as early as possible to ensure the ability to travel for the in person portion of the course.

  • Scholarship recipients may be marketed through the MBAA website, district email list, the MBAA forum, and MBAA meetings.

  • Scholarship recipients will be required to give a one slide presentation to the MBAA District at a future meeting, describing their experiences through this program.

  • Scholarship recipients will be encouraged to join the scholarship committee to help guide future recipients and MBAA members.
