Oral Technical Presentations

Unless otherwise explicitly stated by Master Brewers, all Oral Technical Presenters will give their 20-minute presentation LIVE during their designated session time, whether onsite* in Clev​eland, Ohio, or over Zoom during the virtual portion of the conference. After your present​ation, there will be at least 5 minutes for Q&A from the ​audience.

*Master Brewers recognizes that travel plans for presenting authors may change. You will be encou​raged to also pre-record your presentation and upload it prior to the start of the conference in case your travel plans change. More information to come on how to prerecord and upload your presentation.

All onsite oral presentations will be recorded and made available for on-demand viewing for all virtual conference attendees. Everyone who registers for the onsite conference receives automatic access to all virtual content.​

ePoster Presentations

ePosters will be comprised of two elements for the onsite and virtual portion of the conference – a PDF of the poster and a 3-minute video summary.

Upload Deadline: October 8, 2021

ePosters will be available for viewing​ to attendees at any time during the onsite meeting (via kiosks with monitors near the registration desk) or via your laptop, tablet, and/or sm​​artphone (via the online meeting platform and app). All registrants will have access to the ePoster post-conference while content remains accessible.

​Attendees can communicate with ePoster authors through a discussion feed in the mobile app, and direct messaging through the meeting platform. During the virtual portion of the meeting, we will ask that ePoster Presenters be present in specified Zoom Breakout Rooms during dedicated ePoster Discussion times. More information on ePoster hours to come.

​The deadline to submit an abstra​ct for the 2021 ​Master Brewers Conference had passed. The submission period is closed.
All authors will receive notification if their abstract has been accepted or not the week of July 12.

Submission Instructions

You will be asked to provide the following details for your abstract submission to the 2021 conference. After you have concluded your submission, you will use your Master Brewers membership username and password to log back in if you need to access your submission prior to the June 4 deadline. A confirmation email will be sent with the access links.​

TITLE STEP

Abstract Title

Please use a short and concise title that indicates the content of the abstract. Additional abstract title requirements include:
  • The title is limited to 25 words.
  • Capitalize the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns.​
  • Do not place a period at the end of your title.
  • Do not place hard returns in your title.
  • Italicize scientific names of organisms.
  • No trade names or trademarks are permitted in abstract titles.

Submitter's Email

This is the email address that will receive initial communication regarding the start of the abstract submission. Once the review process begins, the Presenting Author will be the main contact for the submission.

Preferred Presentation Type

Specifying a preference does not guarantee format placement. The submission of an abstract indicates you agree to present in the format assigned.
  • Oral—Oral presentations are allotted 25 minutes (20 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussion). There is no limit on the number of oral preferred presentations submitted. You will also be asked about your ability and/or preference to travel to Cleveland, Ohio for the onsite portion of the conference.
  • ePoster—The 2021 posters will be presented in ePoster format. Specific details on requirements are still being determined and will be communicated to all accepted poster presenters. There is no limit on the number of poster preferred presentations submitted.

Publishing with Master Brewers

Master Brewers strives to promote awareness of its program internationally through its journal and other publications. It strongly recommends that presenters consider publishing articles based on their presentations in the Technical Quarterly.

Abstract – Original Work (up to 475 words)

  • Do not include abstract title, authors, keywords, or references in abstract text.
  • Your abstract MUST include:
    • Establishment of context and significance of your research to the field of brewing science.
    • Hypothesis or Objective
    • Methods
    • Results:
      • Your abstract should mention quantitative data from representative experiments.
      • Data must represent new findings.
Important Note: Abstracts dealing with commercial products/services must have a scientific emphasis and should not be submitted with promotional intent.
