Abstract
First brewed in 1987, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout was one of the first Craft brewed stouts in the United States since Prohibition. Barney Flats was inspired by the oatmeal stouts of England. In the late 1980s, few people had tasted a dark beer like Barney Flats, and the tasting helped people think of American beer in a whole new way.
