Tests of crown seals and some practical applications

Abstract
Along with other changes in packaging for the brewing industry have come changes in crown closures, from the original cork-lined crown to the aluminum-spotted crown, which was in universal use by the industry until the short-skirt, plastic-lined crown was introduced. A series of tests has been devised to measure the performance of crowns under conditions likely to be encountered in the trade and to determine flaws in the closures and their long-term sealing properties.
