Cultural characters of Pullalaria (de B.) Berkhout and of Candida spp., and growth of P. pullalans on barley during malt
M. N. Follstad and C. M. Christensen
Abstract
Researchers have isolated cultures of Pullalaria pullulans from many samples of barley, wheat, and corn. The work reported here was undertaken to learn more about the characteristics of this fungus in the culture state, the means by which it might be distinguished from another similar fungus, its requirements for growth on barley kernels, and its possible effects on the germinating seeds of barley during malting.
