The development of sealing compounds for beer cans and crowns
E. J. Graham
Abstract
Consideration is given to the various stages of laboratory development to which sealants are subjected before they become commercial products. These include the basic tests for manufacturing, application, and simulated usage. Specifically described are the tests for beer seepage, pressure loss, gas volume pasteurization, staining, and biological conditions. Other matters are discussed including FDA approval, double-seam evaluation, and taste-testing the beer.
