Water and waste - Treatment and disposal

Abstract
This paper discusses the present water treatment and waste disposal procedures in the New York Metropolitan area and comments on the new regulations regarding waste disposal and their effect on the breweries. Alternative methods are suggested for the disposal of diatomaceous earth filter cake. A cost analysis is given of one such method, involving collection of the wet cakes in a mud tank and refiltering on an automatic dry discharge filter.
