Abstract
Twenty six beers of 9 different types were analysed on the following nucleic acid derivatives: adenine, adenosine, cytidine, cytosine, guanine, guanosine, hypoxanthine, inosine plus thymine, thymidine plus uracil, uridine and xanthine. Dietetic beer with 194 mg/ml contains the lowest amount of total nucleobases and nucleosides, then follow top fermented wheat beer (202 mg/L), American lager (222 mg/L), top fermented Alt beer (237 mg/L), pale lager (257 mg/L), English ale (276 mg/L), Pilsen lager (288 mg/L), pale strong (289 mg/L) and pale export (298 mg/L). With respect to the individual components, xanthine is found only in traces. Cytosine, hypoxanthine and adenine individually appear below the 5 mg/L level. Guanosine (88 mg/L), cytidine (49 mg/L) and uridine (45 mg/L) occur in greater amounts.
