Noise control in breweries.

Abstract
With the onset of legislation for occupational noise exposure in many countries throughout the world, there has been an upsurge of interest in practical noise control measures which aid compliance with these requirements. In breweries it is primarily the packaging side of the industry which is in conflict with these legislative standards, but in many of the newer bottling halls, the problem has been 'engineered out' by careful planning at the design stage. For example, effort has been made to purchase quieter equipment, utilise low speed multi track conveyors in conjunction with universal bends, select appropriate guide rail shapes and line speeds, and orientate large plant items, to provide acoustic screening in conjunction with the appropriate ceiling treatment and profile. Remedial action for bottling halls is limited to more conventional noise control technology. There are, however, several new materials being developed which may enhance the noise control features in existing installations.
