Selection of optimal bottle fill measurement methods for use in process control.
Patino, H.
Abstract
The power control chart as criterion for comparison of measurement alternatives for use in process control is introduced. The sample size required for a range of process and measurement error conditions is presented. The principle is applied to fill monitoring of bottled beer, by comparing automated weighing with the more precise 'pour out' method. The use of larger automatically weighed samples is demonstrated to be more representative. Lower precision measuring methods may result in improved monitoring over high precision methods, depending on the sample size involved in each alternative.
