Abstract
The development of a computer model, using a Control Data Corporation Cyber 855 computer running the GPSS V/6000 (Version 1.3) discrete event simulation language, to simulate the fermentation, maturation and filtration of beer is described, together with the validation of the model by comparison with production process data from a commercial brewery. The use of the model to find and test ways of optimizing production efficiency in the brewery is also described.
