Abstract
This item in the series of interesting old papers reprinted under the heading "Brewing! has it changed that much?" was first presented at the 1959 Convention of the Master Brewers' Association of the Americas (MBAA). The history of research and education in the brewing industry is outlined and the brewing technology degree course then offered by the University of California at its Davis campus (the first and in 1959 still the only US university to provide education in this subject) is described.
