Build Trust and Credibility

Building Trust

The success of the Master Brewers is dependent on the trust and confidence we earn from our members and supporting organizations. We gain credibility by adhering to our commitments, displaying honesty and integrity, and reaching our goals solely through honorable conduct.

Respect for the Individual

We all deserve to work in an environment where we are treated with dignity and respect. Through all of our interactions within the Master Brewers and in association with all outside contacts and associates, all members will refrain from treating anyone inappropriately and will make every effort to thank and support the efforts of others.

The Master Brewers is an organization committed to providing an environment that is free of discrimination of all types and from abusive, offensive, or harassing behavior.

Therefore, all members agree to comply with the following:

  • Treat all individuals respectfully, recognizing their human dignity, regardless of their diverse human characteristics, race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, citizenship, genetic information or their family, pregnancy, disability, or veteran status.
  • Contribute to a positive environment that is free of hostile and offensive behaviors.
  • Speak out without fear of retaliation when the actions of others violate rights of any individuals.
  • Respect the opinions of others and address conflicts in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Respect others’ privacy in their personal lives.
  • Do not participate in the use of offensive language, gestures, or the display or distribution of offensive pictures, cartoons, or other communications by any means.
  • Treat all individuals professionally and respect their personal property.

Uphold the Law

The Master Brewers commitment to integrity begins with complying with laws, rules, and regulations where we do business. Further, each of us must have an understanding of the Master Brewers policies, Bylaws, and Manual of Operations that apply to our specific roles.

Avoid Conflicts of Interest

Conflicts of Interest

We must avoid any relationship or activity that might impair, or even appear to impair, our ability to make objective and fair decisions when addressing the needs of the Master Brewers. We must never use Master Brewers resources, property, or information for personal gain or personally take for ourselves any opportunity that is discovered through our position with the Master Brewers.

Gifts, Gratuities, and Business Courtesies

The Master Brewers is committed to engaging solely on a merit of our efforts, products, and services. We should avoid any actions that create a perception that favorable treatment of outside entities by the Master Brewers was sought, received, or given in exchange for personal business courtesies.

Set Metrics and Report Results Accurately

Accurate Disclosures

We will make certain that all disclosures made in financial reports and public documents are full, fair, accurate, timely, and understandable. This obligation applies to all members, including all financial officers, with any responsibility for the preparation for such reports, including drafting, reviewing, and signing or certifying the information contained therein.

Accountability

Each of us is responsible for knowing and adhering to the values and standards set forth in this Code and for raising questions if we are uncertain about any Master Brewers policy. If we are concerned whether the standards are being met or are aware of violations of the Code, we must contact our District Officers or National Officers.

Industry and Community Interface

Media Inquiries

The Master Brewers is a high-profile association, and from time to time, members may be approached by reporters and other members of the media. If asked to speak regarding the Master Brewers, to ensure that we speak with one voice and provide accurate information about the Master Brewers, we should direct these media inquiries to our District Officers or National Executive.

Alcohol Responsibility

At times within the conduct of our events the Master Brewers membership may share and enjoy alcoholic beverages. Responsible consumption of these beverages is the acceptable guiding principle for consumption at or in conjunction with Master Brewers activities. Master Brewers members representing the association are responsible for protecting the image of both the Master Brewers and the brewing industry by taking steps to assure that no member, to include themselves, will break any laws in the process of purchase, sharing, or consumption of alcoholic beverages in association with Master Brewers sponsored events. Furthermore, should members or associates consume more than a reasonable amount of alcohol and either are or appear to be incapable of functioning, both legally or appropriately, Master Brewers members will make every legal action to keep those persons from breaking any laws and from harming themselves or others.
