Abstract
This paper highlights 10 critical aspects that a brewer should consider when purchasing a pump. Brewers will gain an understanding of the differences and uses of centrifugal pumps versus positive displacement pumps and how to size the pump to produce pressure. Critical components, from impellers to seal kits and elastomers, are identified to understand pump performance and to assist in maintenance and repair. Finally, aftermarket support and optional upgrades are identified including variable frequency drive controllers and pump carts.
