As energy costs trend higher and companies look to use water more efficiently, brewing, operations, and utilities are asked to do more with less. Creativity is required to uncover operational savings to meet the enterprise’s key performance indicators (KPIs). A holistic view of your operations in assessing the incoming water, cleaning and sanitation program, and effluent output will yield much higher success in addressing your KPIs than looking at only one portion of this equation. This paper will discuss ways to uncover operational savings using developed and proven tools to assess your total plant operations. The presenters will provide case studies and details along with realized savings from select breweries.
Jeffrey Hutchison received degrees in both chemistry and mathematics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He began his career with Ecolab’s Food and Beverage Division in 2007, working as a formulation chemist in hard-surface cleaning, sanitizing, and conveyor lubrication development groups. Jeff focused his formulation efforts in support of Ecolab’s Global Lubricant Development team for more than three years. Jeff then leveraged his product formulation and application experience to support growth in innovation rollout throughout Asia Pacific and Latin America. Most recently, Jeff has taken additional project leadership responsibilities, supporting the global beverage and brewery segments. Jeff has been a member of MBAA since 2011 and presented on keg cleaning in 2012.
