Abstract
A review of previous TQ articles that have examined canning and shelf stability to see where we have come from to the present day. The reviewed articles discuss the development of aluminum cans, computer modeling of fill level and package oxygen, troubleshooting of a musty flavor in canned beer, improvements in the measurement of can seams, and sources of package staining as a result of pasteurization and other causes. The review closes with a few words looking forward to the next TQ Focus Issue on Barley and Malting in quarter two of 2022.
